Mumbai City announce Xylem as Official Water Technology Partner
Mumbai City has today announced a partnership with Xylem, which will see the leading global water technology company become the Club’s Official Water Technology Partner.
The new partnership will enable Xylem to help tackle India’s mounting water challenges, building on their previous work in the region, including helping to tackle flood damage in Kerala and partnering on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, one of the world’s largest irrigation projects.
By working together, Mumbai City and Xylem along with its players and fans, will leverage the power of sport and football to bring people together, raise awareness of the world’s water issues and work together on social impact initiatives, conducted by the Company’s stakeholder engagement and corporate social responsibility platform, Xylem Watermark.
This builds on the existing work Xylem and Cityzens Giving, City Football Group’s global community project, have delivered in Bangalore over the past two years. This includes training 200 Young Leaders who have provided vital football-based education about the importance of clean water and sanitation to over 10,000 children across the city, allowing Xylem to increase its WASH education effort in the Indian market.
Xylem is committed to creating a more water sustainable world and helping communities in more than 150 countries become water secure. In partnering with Mumbai City, Xylem has reaffirmed its commitment towards India, and towards working to combat the water issues on Mumbai’s doorstep, with several initiatives lined up in the near future.
Bimal Parekh, co-owner of Mumbai City FC, said:
“We are delighted to announce our partnership with Xylem, a global leader in water technology focused on solving water challenges. Mumbai City and Xylem believe in the power of football to bring about positive, sustainable change in communities and we look forward to supporting Xylem’s efforts in making a difference with innovative solutions to the water needs and challenges in India and around the world.”
Nitin Bhate, Managing Director, Xylem India, said:
“We are genuinely excited to team up with Mumbai City FC as their Official Water Technology Partner. The first step in addressing critical water challenges is to raise awareness of the problem. With the rising popularity of football in India, and Mumbai City FC as our committed partners, this is a unique opportunity to reach millions of football fans across India and raise awareness about rising water challenges in India and globally. The next generation have a critical role to play in creating a water-secure world; this partnership is about galvanizing fans into action to help us solve water.”
