Mumbai City FC are set to kick off their 2025–26 campaign as they face Sporting Club Delhi in the opening match of Group D in the Super Cup tomorrow, to be played at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa. Ahead of the season opener, Head Coach Petr Kratky and Captain Lallianzuala Chhangte expressed their optimism and excitement at the pre-match press conference.

Mumbai City FC will head into the Super Cup with a refreshed squad, combining experienced internationals with promising new additions. Speaking on the team’s preparation and spirit ahead of the first match, Head Coach Petr Kratky said, “We are excited to finally play a game again. It feels good to get things moving forward, and I have a very good feeling about this group. They have trained really well, and I am looking forward to what they can do on the pitch. Obviously, two weeks is not a lot of time, but the players have shown great effort and professionalism.”

Captain Lallianzuala Chhangte echoed the coach’s sentiments, speaking about the mood in the dressing room and the team’s hunger to start strong, “After a long break, it feels great to be back. We have been working really hard in training — physically, mentally, and tactically. Sporting Club Delhi are a strong side and can hurt you if you’re not careful, but our intention is to play with intensity and get that first goal as soon as we can.”

Emphasizing the importance of the Super Cup for the team, Lallianzuala Chhangte added, “The Super Cup is a big motivation for us because it’s the only trophy we haven’t won yet. It would be special to lift it, not just for the players but also for the fans and everyone at the club. We are taking it one game at a time, staying focused, and aiming to start the campaign on a positive note.”

Expressing his appreciation for the supporters, Petr Kratky shared a message for the fans, “As always, we are very happy to have our fans on board and supporting us,” he said. “We look forward to starting the season on a positive note as well as representing Mumbai the way we should, by playing with our hearts on our sleeves. The players are ready to work hard, fight for every ball, and give their best for the club and for the fans. We will do everything we can to make them proud and leave everything on the pitch in every game.”
