Mumbai City FC are on the road as they take on Jamshedpur FC in the 16th league game of the season. Following their 4-0 victory at home against NorthEast United, the Islanders will look to extend their undefeated run in the league this season. A tough challenge awaits the Islanders who will take on the Red Miners, currently sitting 10th in the ISL table. Jamshedpur FC will host Mumbai City at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on the 27th of January 2023 at 7.30pm IST.

The Islanders currently sit atop of the league table with 39 points from the 15 games so far in the season. They have won twelve games and drawn three this season. They also lead the league with the most goals (45) and the second best defence in the league having conceded only 13 goals. Des Buckingham’s side bagged a hard fought 1-0 win away from home against ATK Mohun Bagan before trouncing NorthEast United 4-0 in a comfortable win at the Mumbai Football Arena.

Jamshedpur FC have secured 9 points in 15 games. They emerged victorious against East Bengal FC away from home after a close run affair that ended 2-1. In their most recent encounter, they lost 3-0 at home against a strong Bengaluru FC side.

Des Buckingham, in the pre match press conference, spoke about how tough a challenge Jamshedpur FC will prove to be, “I think the last time we played them they took two points off of us and I will say the same as I said afterwards, they're a good team. They've got a very good coach in Aidy. We've watched their games especially recently with the one last week - Jamshedpur played well in terms of the chances they created, opportunities they created on the goal and just weren't able to convert, so it's not for me that they're playing poorly, it's just they haven't been taking chances.”

He went on to add, “We're aware that we can expect another tough challenge, the same way we did against them in the last game. But we're a very different team to what we were when we played them last. I'd like to think we've been able to showcase our type of football more often. It's going to be a very different game than what it was last time and it's one that we're ready for, one we're very much looking forward to.”

The electric Greg Stewart accompanied Buckingham for the conference, and he asserted, “The last game (vs Jamshedpur) was just the type of game it was. We were still trying to find ourselves in the way we wanted to play. In that game, I felt like they did well. They held us to not create so many chances and and from our point of view we were obviously disappointed in the way we played and the outcome of the match. It was just one of those games, but credit to Jamshedpur. I'll just reiterate what Des said, I think the league standings are a bit false. I've watched them a couple of times. So yeah, it's gonna be another difficult game tomorrow night. ”

The Scotsman added, “It was nice to see the stadium and the facilities here. The pitch looks very good and from what I could see it could be one of the best in the league. So yeah, we're looking forward to the match. We're gonna be well prepared and and as I say, we're looking forward to it.”

Coach Buckingham concluded the press conference by talking about how they utilised their 8 day rest, “We know that every game will pose its own challenges. We've got different ways that we can approach games. Now we've spent the last eight days, firstly recovering and resting the players from the previous game because we had two games in four days. So it's nice to have that time between because if you can do that, not only do you get more time to recover, you get more time to plan and prepare for games. I think when the fans come to the stadium, they will see players performing at a higher level because of that.”
