With the 2025-26 Indian Super League season into its final stretch, Mumbai City are set to take on Mohammedan SC on 15th May in a crucial away fixture.
With only two games remaining, the team looks to build on recent performances and translate them into results. Head Coach Petr Kratky reflected on the team’s recent outings, highlighting the positives and the need for improvement in key moments. “I think the first half of the season was very good for us and we are still making progress. We have approached the recent games positively and made good starts. The team has also reacted well after conceding but unfortunately the results did not go our way. Now it is about preparing well and making sure we do things better in the upcoming match,” he said.
He also stressed the role of mentality and application against a tricky opponent. “Mohammedan SC is a well organised and hardworking team. They can be dangerous from set-pieces as well as in transition. We must focus on our mentality and how we approach the game. If we play with the right energy and intent from the start, we are confident of picking up three points” he explained.
Forward Jorge Ortiz echoed the coach’s sentiments, emphasising the importance of maintaining consistency despite recent results. “Our mentality has to stay the same. Our performance in the last two games was good and we probably deserved better results. But now the focus is on the next game. We want to play with the same style and approach that we have been working on, and we are confident going into this match,” he said. He further added, “The goal is clear for us at this stage of the season. We will take it one game at a time and concentrate on what we can control. We know what we need to do play with the right mindset and intensity, we believe we can finish the season strongly.”
With the margins becoming increasingly tight, the Head Coach underlined the importance of focus and determination in the final stretch of the season. “We have two games to go and we have to aim to win both. The message to the players is simple. We have to give everything on the pitch, leave no regrets, and do our best to achieve our targets. The players understand what is at stake and we will fight to win all six points,” he added.
With the season nearing its conclusion and every point worth fighting for, The Islanders will look to combine intensity and belief as they aim to bounce back and secure a crucial result on the road. The match is set to kick off at 7:30 PM on Friday and will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network and streamed on FanCode. Live updates will be available on the club’s official X handle, @MumbaiCityFC.
