Mumbai City are delighted to announce the signing of Carlos Delgado. The experienced Spanish defender joins the Islanders on a free transfer after putting pen to paper on a one-year contract, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Born in Puerto Real, Cádiz, Andalusia, Delgado joined Málaga CF’s youth system at the age of 15. He went on to play for the likes of Real Valladolid B, Almería B, Leganés, Recreativo de Huelva and Valencia, where he made his debut in a 2-0 win over Lille SC in the UEFA Champions League.

Having also made 113 appearances for fellow Indian Super League side Odisha FC, whom he captained during his spell with the club, Delgado has been a familiar name in Indian football for several years. During his time with the Juggernauts, he represented the club at the continental level and also lifted the Super Cup in 2023.

Delgado is also known for his leadership qualities and his presence in the dressing room. This, along with his guidance, has made him a respected figure and was one of the factors behind the club's decision to bring him to the City of Dreams.

Carlos Delgado, Defender of Mumbai City, said:

“When you join a club with the ambition and expectations of Mumbai City, you understand the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt. I am ready to embrace that responsibility, give everything for my teammates, and fight for the team and the badge in every game.”

Manolo Márquez, Head Coach of Mumbai City, said:

“Carlos brings leadership, experience, and defensive solidity to the team. He understands the demands of his position, has a strong mentality, and brings a calm presence to the backline. His experience and leadership will give us greater stability and strength in defence.”
