Three wins and three clean sheets on the trot but Sergio Lobera’s Mumbai City are about to face their toughest test so far. The Islanders prepare for a tough outing as they ready themselves to face a resolute Chennaiyin FC side on Wednesday, December 9 at the GMC Bambolim.

Sergio Lobera’s boys overcame a strong first few minutes on Sunday evening by Odisha FC to later see out a comfortable 2-0 win against Stuart Baxter’s men on an evening when the scoreline could have been bigger if not for a few refereeing gaffes.

Chennaiyin, who are also under new management in the form of head coach Csaba László, had a strong start to the 2020-21 season after a 2-1 win against Jamshedpur FC. It has not been all positive for the Marina Machans thereafter with a goalless draw against Kerala Blasters and a narrow defeat to Bengaluru.

Despite a seemingly comfortable win against Odisha FC, Sergio Lobera was bullish about his side’s need to improve on certain counts to keep up with the ambitions and tomorrow will prove to be a litmus test of the Islanders’ prowess against a side who will be itching to get back to winning ways.

Team News

Anirudh Thapa remains a doubt for tomorrow’s visitors but Chennaiyin FC head coach Csaba László has pinned his hopes for the same on a late fitness test.

Who Said What

Sergio Lobera: Our focus is not on the table now. Our focus is on the next game and we need to go one step at a time. I think we are improving game by game, but we need to fix a couple of things.

Adam Le Fondre: It's obviously nice to get wins on the board and clean sheets but it's vital that we move in the right direction and keep building on the way we're playing at the moment.
