Mumbai City FC fell to a 0-1 defeat against Jamshedpur FC in the semi-final of the Kalinga Super Cup. Despite a valiant effort, the team was beaten by a late goal just minutes before full time.

In the opening exchanges, Mumbai City looked to build momentum down the wings, with Noufal actively involved in pushing forward. Despite the early pressure, most of the attacking play was coming from the Islanders as they sought to break down Jamshedpur’s defense. However, it was Jamshedpur who earned early corners. In the 6th minute, Rei Tachikawa swung in a dangerous delivery that was tipped over the bar by Rehenesh TP. Mumbai’s defense remained resolute, holding their shape and absorbing pressure throughout the first half.

Mumbai came out with pace and purpose after the break. In the 46th minute, Lallianzuala Chhangte forced a strong attempt to get the second half underway. Jamshedpur put pressure on the Islanders in the second half, but Mumbai’s defense, led by Rehenesh TP, held firm until the late breakthrough. The second half also saw Jorge Ortiz and Nikolas Karelis replacing Brandon Fernandes and Daniel to inject fresh energy into the attack.

Mumbai made another change in the 67th minute, bringing on Franklin Nazareth for Jeremy Manzorro to add further attacking options. The Islanders continued to press forward, but Jamshedpur goalkeeper Rehenesh TP stood firm. In the 58th minute, Rehenesh TP denied Javier Siverio’s header, and in the 62nd minute, pulled off a fingertip save to keep out Pronay Halder’s long-range strike.

As time wore on, Mumbai City FC attempted to break through with long balls, but Jamshedpur’s defense held strong, and they couldn’t find the equalizer. The goal for Jamshedpur came in the 86th minute when Rei Tachikawa struck from distance to give the visitors the lead. Mumbai responded with a final double substitution in the 90th minute, bringing on Nikum and Stalin in place of Noufal and Vikram, but the scoreline remained unchanged.
