Twenty-five days ago, the Islanders were on top of the Hero ISL standings after grinding out a 1-0 win over then unbeaten Bengaluru FC but it’s not gone as per the plans for Jorge Costa and his boys as they suffered three back-to-back losses post that. The Islanders come up against Steve Coppell’s ATK at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan stadium in Kolkata with an aim to confirm a berth in the playoffs.

Both the sides have a chance to make it to the playoffs with the Islanders currently holding a six-point lead over ATK in the fourth spot. A win tomorrow would confirm a second semi-final appearance for the Islanders who finished at the top spot in the 2016 Season. Meanwhile, ATK didn’t have the best outing as FC Goa came out victorious by 3-0 in their previous encounter.

The home side for tomorrow, ATK have not been at their best either by picking up just 6 points from a possible 18 which has put them in the sixth position with 21 points and this has seen them drift away from a playoff spot. ATK’s attack despite having the likes of Everton Santos, Manuel Lanzarote, Kalu Uche and Balwant Singh have failed to live upto the expectations with just 15 goals on display in 16 games.

In what can be considered as a pivotal clash, the Islanders will be confident to returning back to winning ways and clinching the all-important spot in the play-off.
