Mumbai City are set to take on Bengaluru FC away from home in a crucial fixture at the top of the table as the season enters a defining phase.
Facing a close rival, the contest presents a significant tactical and mental test for Mumbai City, particularly in a challenging away environment known for its intense atmosphere. Head Coach Petr Kratky highlighted the quality of the opposition and the conditions expected on matchday. “Bengaluru FC are in good form and it is never easy to play against them. We know the conditions will be demanding and we are prepared for the challenge. The focus for us is to make sure the team is ready for every moment of the game and performs well in the key situations,” he said.
The Head Coach also stressed that execution in key moments will be decisive against a well-drilled opposition. “We have the right balance between attack and defence. We are focused on getting into good positions more often and being more clinical in front of goal. Bengaluru FC are well organised with strong defenders and a lot of energy in their game. But we believe in the quality of our squad and our ability to create and convert chances if we execute our plans well,” he explained.
With the season entering its final stretch, Kratky underlined the urgency within the group and the role of leadership in driving the team’s performance. “We have a few games left and we have to give our best in every match. If we want to achieve our goals, we need to play without fear, take responsibility, and push ourselves to win. Leadership within the group becomes very important in moments like this and everyone needs to be on the same page to drive the team forward,” he said.
Forward Vikram Pratap Singh echoed the significance of the fixture, framing it as a decisive moment in the campaign. “At this stage, every game feels like a final for us. We are in a good position, but we know how important it is to keep pushing. The focus is completely on the next match, and we are going to approach it with intensity and give everything on the pitch,” he said.
He also highlighted the impact of fan support, particularly in away conditions. “It means a lot to see our fans travelling and supporting us, whether outside the hotel or in the stands. Their presence really motivates us, and we want to give our best to deliver a good result for them,” he added. Speaking on handling the away atmosphere, he added, “For any footballer, it’s always a great feeling to play in front of a big crowd. These are the moments you enjoy as a player. We look forward to playing in such an atmosphere and using that energy positively.”
Mumbai City will look to translate their preparation into execution on the pitch, maintaining discipline and belief as they aim to secure a crucial result on the road.
