Mumbai City will face FC Goa on 18th April in a crucial away fixture, as the Islanders look to extend their unbeaten run and secure crucial points in the title race.

With the business end of the season approaching, the encounter presents a significant test for Mumbai City against an FC Goa side known for its structured build-up play and organisation under pressure. Head Coach Petr Kratky emphasized the need for complete preparation across all areas of the game. “We know FC Goa are a very strong team who have been consistent over the last few seasons. They have the quality to hurt you in different moments of the game. We must prepare for every situation and we will continue working to make sure we are ready to compete in all aspects of the game,” he said.

Despite Mumbai City’s position at the summit, Kratky reiterated the team’s process-driven approach, focusing on performance rather than standings. “We are not thinking too much about the points table. Our focus is on taking it one game at a time and giving our best during each match. The most important thing is that we give everything on the pitch in order to succeed. If we continue with this mindset and commitment, I believe the results will take care of themselves,” he added.

Now the longest serving Head Coach in club history, he also reflected on the evolution of the team’s identity during his tenure. “Over the past couple of seasons, the team has experienced many changing circumstances and we have had to adapt to each one. This season is another step in that journey, where the focus is on playing more controlled and consistent football. While we are happy with the progress so far, there is still room to improve, especially in terms of being more dominant on the ball and managing games better.”

Midfielder Brandon Fernandes, who recently opened his account for the season, spoke about the team’s mindset heading into the fixture. “It was a long wait for the goal, so I’m very happy to finally get one. It definitely helps in confidence, but at the same time, the focus quickly shifts to the next game. We know this is going to be a tough challenge and we need to be mentally and physically ready to compete at a high level,” he said.

Facing his former club, Fernandes maintained that his focus remains firmly on the team’s objectives. “It’s always special to play against a former club, but once you step onto the pitch, the focus is completely on the game. For me, it’s about giving my 100 percent to help the team in every way possible, and staying committed to what we want to achieve together,” he said.

With both sides bringing good form into the contest, the fixture promises to be an intense battle in the race for the title. The match is set to kick off at 7:30 PM on Saturday and will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network and streamed on FanCode.
