It's derby day!

After a strong and spirited performance against FC Goa, Mumbai City FC make the trip to neighbours FC Pune City in search of a second consecutive victory at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in the clash billed as the Maharashtra Derby!

The Islanders will be on the road for the second time in 10 days after the opening day defeat away to Bengaluru FC and will look to earn their first points away from home this season.

The hosts FC Pune City are coming off the back of a 4-1 drubbing of ATK away from home at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan with Alfaro, Marcelinho and Rohit Kumar featuring on the scoresheet.

History:

In the previous 6 encounters, FC Pune City have got the better of the Islanders on 3 occasions with 2 wins going Mumbai City FCs way. The two sides played out the only draw in this fixture in 2015, in a goalless game at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.

This fixture will remain to be iconic in Mumbai City FC history with the Islanders' first ever home game in club history was versus the neighbours at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. And who could forget the result on the night a 5-0 drubbing!

The Islanders also kicked off the 2016-17 season in Pune with MCFC winning 1-0 courtesy a goal from Matias Defederico. The Orange Army, as they're called, settled the scores when FC Pune City ran out 1-0 winners at the Mumbai Football Arena later in the season with Eugeneson Lyngdoh getting a late winner.

A few of the names on Mumbai City roster won't be strangers to the city and the fans of Pune. Sanju Pradhan, Arindam Bhattacharya and Mehrajuddin Wadoo all have pulled on the FC Pune City jersey previously. Similarly, left back Chhuantea Fanai will turn out for tomrorow's home side after two seasons at Mumbai.

The Islanders' anchor man from last season Krisztian Vadocz also turned out for Pune in the inaugural ISL season. Along with him, Jackichand Singh and Ashutosh Mehta have featured for both sides previously in the ISL.

League Watch:

After two games each, the Islanders find themselves in 5th place on the table courtesy the three crucial points against FC Goa.

Bengaluru FC beat Delhi Dynamos at home to secure their second win in as many games, they go top of the table with six points. Erik Paartalu scored a brace for BFC.
