Mumbai City are set for their upcoming away fixture against Inter Kashi on 15th March, with head coach Petr Kratky expecting a challenging contest against a well-organised opponent.
The Islanders have shown encouraging signs in the early phase of the season, particularly with their attacking combinations from wide areas. Kratky highlighted the growing understanding on the left flank, where the interplay between players has added another dimension to Mumbai City’s attacking play. “We are very happy with the start,” Kratky said. “The preparation going into this short season was not ideal, but the players have responded well. The combinations on the left side have been encouraging and hopefully they will continue producing good football not just on that flank but across the pitch.”
Mumbai City will come up against an Inter Kashi side known for its defensive organisation and ability to transition quickly. Kratky noted that preparation remains consistent each week, with the coaching staff analysing the opposition closely and preparing the team accordingly. “Every opponent this season is strong and Inter Kashi are no different,” he explained. “They are a well-drilled side with a very good coach and they are strong defensively. We are preparing accordingly to make sure we are ready from the first minute.”
The Islanders will also draw on the experience of Finnish international midfielder Joni Kauko, who has settled quickly into the squad since joining during the winter window. Kauko, who is familiar with Inter Kashi from his earlier stint in India, believes his experience will help him adapt to different roles within the midfield depending on the team’s needs. “I know the club and the coach well, so it will be nice to face them,” Kauko said. “When you join a new team, you try to adapt to the structure as quickly as possible. I’ve played in different roles in midfield and I’m just trying to do what the team needs.”
Despite a busy schedule, Kratky reiterated that the team’s attention remains firmly on the immediate challenge rather than looking ahead to upcoming fixtures. “Our focus is completely on Inter Kashi,” he added. “We take one game at a time. The goal is to prepare as well as possible, put the right energy and attitude on the pitch, and fight for the three points.”
With both teams eager to build momentum early in the campaign, the encounter promises to be a competitive battle as Mumbai City look to secure a positive result away from home. With the kick-off scheduled for 7:30 PM on Sunday, it will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network and streamed on FanCode. Live updates will be available on the club’s official X handle, @MumbaiCityFC.
