Mumbai City FC will look to continue their strong start to the campaign when they host Sporting Club Delhi in their upcoming fixture at Mumbai Football Arena on 8th March, with Head Coach Peter Kratky urging his side to maintain intensity and consistency in what he expects to be a challenging contest.

The Islanders head into the game unbeaten in their opening three matches, having shown solidity at the back and attacking promise going forward. Kratky believes the team has progressed steadily with each outing but emphasised that maintaining balance across all phases of play will be crucial. “From round one to round three, I can see the progression of the team and the way we play,” Kratky said. “But in football, attack without good defence means nothing. We need to be strong in all phases — defensively, in transitions, and when we go forward.”

Despite Mumbai City’s positive start, the coach is wary of the threat posed by Sporting Club Delhi, who have shown glimpses of quality this season and remain capable of causing problems. “They start games very well and they try to play football,” Kratky noted. “Against FC Goa, the first 30 minutes were very good from them. They have good intent and they are fighting for points, which makes them a difficult team to play against. We have to match their intensity and attitude.”

Defender Sahil Panwar, who has adapted to a central defensive role this season after primarily playing as a left-back, highlighted the collective effort behind Mumbai City’s defensive performances. “It’s not about me, it’s about the whole squad,” Sahil said. “We are working as a group and learning from each other. Playing alongside experienced players like Nuno has helped me a lot, and I’m still working hard to improve every aspect of my game.”

Sahil also acknowledged the importance of the fans, particularly amid the uncertainty surrounding Indian football in recent months. “Our fans have continued to support us, especially at home,” he said. “We want them to keep backing us, whether we play home or away. Their support means a lot to the team.”

Mumbai City will also mark the fixture with a special Women’s Day initiative, with the club announcing that the net revenue generated from matchday ticket sales will be donated to an NGO supporting women’s causes. “Football brings people together and allows us to support good causes,” Kratky said. “It’s a very good initiative by the club and I hope many people come to support both the team and the cause.”

The Islanders are poised to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign. With the kick-off scheduled for 7:30 PM on Sunday, it will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network and streamed on Fancode. Live updates will be available on the club’s official X handle, @MumbaiCityFC.
